Coupler? What's a coupler? A coupler is a device that samples a signal without degrading it. Tone Coupler does just that. It transparently samples the signal your amplifier drives the speaker with providing a means of externally monitoring and processing your signature tone. It does not degrade the quality of the original signal. A device of this nature is often referred to as a line out.
Many players use microphones during recording sessions as well as certain live environments. Mikes have the disadvantages of picking up floor noise, needing accurate positioning, feedback, as well as being sensitive to getting bumped into. Tone Coupler removes these disadvantages in that it provides a low cost, hard wire connection from the amplifier to the mixer or monitor using a standard 1/4 inch phone plug and cable.
It's simple and easy to use. Push on connectors are used to interface to the amplifier speaker. In amps that have multiple speakers, use the speaker that's most convenient to hook up to. Red lead goes to speaker +. Black lead goes to speaker -. A 1/4 inch patch cord then connects Tone Coupler to the mike input of your monitoring device. You can then use a strip of velcro or double sided tape to secure Tone Coupler inside the amplifier cabinet.
To use it, simply set the level on your amp. Then set the mike level on your mixing board or monitor. Couldn't be easier. No floor noise. No bump noises. No positioning. No feedback. The monitor will hear only what's going into the speaker.
In the event that the + and - speaker leads are reversed in the amplifier, there may be no output signal from Tone Coupler. In this case, simply reverse Tone Coupler's speaker leads.
Use Tone Coupler to sample the output of your amp to drive another amplifier.
Tone coupler allows you to place an effects loop after your amplifier and then into a mixer or another amplifier, keeping the guitar/amp dry signal chain natural.
For recording or live shows, use Tone Coupler to drive a computer with simulation software to emulate other amps and speaker cabinets.
